Here is a glimpse of in)(between, a solo exhibition currently on display at the Transit Gallery in Norfolk, Virginia. My family and I have moved 17 times in the last 24 years and still live "in between" places. Art history plays a major role in my approach to photography. In)(between is inspired by 16th century quadriptych alter pieces. It is a conceptual, rather than literal, approach exploring how it feels to pass through thresholds time and time again. My goal as an artist is to create imagery that is minimalistic, symbolic, rich in context, and hopefully relatable.
This series touches on the subject of identity and the expectations of society.
Pickup Truck Series
I have a fascination with how people utilize their vehicles. In this series, I focus on pickup trucks. I chose to place more emphasis on the contents of the trucks rather than on the drivers themselves. They say you can learn a lot about a person by looking in their car.
